Where to stay in central Bologna with family or a group

Finding accommodation in central Bologna for 4, 5 or 6 people is not easy: many places offer separate double rooms or apartments far from the centre. This guide explains how to choose and how to organise your stay, with the two options we offer.
What families and groups really need
- More than one bathroom. With 5–6 people it is the difference between a relaxed morning and a queue at the door.
- Separate bedrooms with the right beds: doubles for couples, singles for kids or friends.
- A real kitchen and a table where everyone fits: it saves money and makes the stay more relaxed, especially with children.
- A washing machine for stays of several days.
- Walking distance to the station and centre, so you do not depend on a car inside the ZTL.
La Casa di Kro: the apartment for 4–6 people
La Casa di Kro is an entire 130 m² apartment at Via Strazzacappe 6 with three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin), two bathrooms with shower, a full kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer, a large open-plan living area and a furnished terrace. The station is 10 minutes on foot, Piazza Maggiore about 12.
Groups we often host:
- two parents with two or three children;
- two couples of friends plus two teenagers;
- families with grandparents, who appreciate the lift and two bathrooms;
- colleagues on a business trip or at a fair who would rather share an apartment than book three hotel rooms.
Four of you and prefer a B&B?
Favola B&B on Via Mascarella has just two rooms, both with private bathroom. Book both and a family of four or two couples practically have the B&B to themselves, with Italian breakfast on request. Favola has no cots, but a free extra bed can be added in the Green Room: up to 5 guests in total.

Central Bologna with children
- Green spaces nearby: the Montagnola park is 300 m from La Casa di Kro and 600 m from Favola; for a longer afternoon, head to the Giardini Margherita park.
- Shopping and markets: Mercato delle Erbe (11 minutes from La Casa di Kro) is handy for fruit, vegetables and local produce; there are bakeries and small grocers nearby.
- Rainy days: MAMbo is 7 minutes on foot from La Casa di Kro, and many museums are reachable under the porticoes.
- Pushchairs: porticoes protect from sun and rain, but some pavements are narrow: a light pushchair is more practical.
Booking tips
- During trade fairs and long weekends the apartment fills up early: book as soon as you have dates.
- Always state the real number of guests and children's ages, so we can prepare beds and cot.
- For long stays ask us about terms: linen and towel changes are guaranteed.
